About 650 AD  | The Suhtai or Sutaio (the later Cheyenne) lived in the area north of Lake Superior. From there they later moved southwest and met the Tsitsista, then living in southwestern Minnesota, around 1665 in the Coteau des Prairies (plateau in the flat prairie of eastern South Dakota, which extends into southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa).
