| | The Spotted Tail Agency was built for the Brule-Lakota in northwestern Nebraska. It was located about 40 miles east of the Red Cloud Agency. Camp Sheridan was built nearby to protect the agency. On October 29, 1877, the Brule-Lakota were relocated to the new Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, where they still live today. | 10 October 1878 | Northern Cheyenne Exodus 1877 - Major Caleb Carlton (3rd U.S. Cavalry) and Major Thornburgh met Red Cloud and 25 of his chiefs at Camp Sheridan. Red Cloud agreed to turn the Cheyenne over to the soldiers if they would report to Red Cloud. Major Thomas Thornburgh's troops were transported by railroad from Fort Fred Steele (Wyoming) to Oglala (Nebraska). | - | - |
